VERA DRAKE

Do you remember the amazing film "Vera Drake"? Convicted of illegally performing abortions, Vera never charged money for what she did, it was her act of kindness to girls who needed it. The hanger never appeared in the movie "Vera Drake", but it is a well-known international symbol of people who fight for the right to abortion, short for the abortion underground that many will descend into when legal abortion is no longer possible. The lightning bolt is the most popular symbol of the women's strike. Invented by the Polish graphic artist Ola Jesionowska, and propagated by Polish women and their men, it flooded Polish streets and the Internet, showing how much we disagree with what the authorities impose on us.

"Vera: I know why you are here.
Det. Inspector Webster: Why we are here?
Vera: Because of what I do.
Det. Inspector Webster: What is what you do Mrs. Drake?
Vera: I help young girls out."
